Stopped using Stacks about two years ago for a few reasons. One, they over charge for EVERYTHING. Any time I brought my car there it was $1,000. Second, i brought my car in for an inspection and before I could make it down a few blocks, there was a huge rattling noise. Brought it back the next day and something needed to be fixed, $800. Anytime I've brought my car there, something else always happens to break to keep me coming back even if it was something I fixed a year prior.
My 2013 Chrysler 300C broke down had to have it towed to my local shop Stacks Auto. Have not been able to use them because with new car warranty I had to bring it to dealer but now on extended warranty I can bring it to any shop.Myself and family been with Tom for 25 years glad to be back. They called warranty company had work covered they gave me a loaner car. Repair was completed next day just such a pleasure to be with someone you can trust 100 % Thanks guys
Had a problem with my motorcycle because of where Stacks mounted the inspection sticker. The sticker actually broke the seal of the fork when the bike bounced up and down from a pot hole, causing fork oil to leak all over the front end of the bike. Stacks took part ownership of this error, and sent me a check for half of the repair. I was satisfied with how they handled this situation
We have been using Stacks for our automotive needs for many years. They are responsible priced. Cheaper than bringing your car to a dealership for sure. When friends ask for a shop to service their car we recommend them.
Customer Service and politeness earns an A+... but VERY expensive. Needed an inspection and asked them to diagnose a rough idle. They indicated engine mounts were broken (which I believe) and needed to be changed. $500 for parts and labor. They charged me $80 a piece for the mounts (2), which run about $20 each, and they charged $160 labor each to change them. These were not the primary mounts, rather support brackets. Three bolts each, and no components in the way...easy access. Should have taken any competent mechanic about 20 minutes each TOPS (that includes the diagnostic time). $160 labor for 20 minutes of work seems very expensive to me. I understand parts mark up and having to keep the lights on, and pay staff, etc... but I feel a little more moderation is needed.
The only reason for the two stars is that they offer a service in which they drive you.
As an aside, The rough idle persisted, and I brought it back... turns out the Main Motor mount needed to be replaced also, which is MUCH more difficult to change. Surprisingly, they only wanted to charge me $120 labor this time to change it (I guess they felt bad they hosed me on the first go-round). I ended up changing the main mount myself, took me about an hour.
